I second that.
Web2.0 and AJAX are two different terms.

Actually both are buzzwords created by marketing staff and then carved into
our subconscious.
Technically speaking AJAX is nothing more but a good old XmlHttp wrapper.
However in broader terms, ajax is a means of making web applications faster,
easy to use, more interactive and accessible (this one is open to serious
debate though) by using XmlHttp to turn the disconnected, push-only web
experience ot a peer to peer client-server experience.

OTOH, Web2.0 "in broad terms" is basically about collaboration, social
networks, niche groups, user generated content, active participation,
degrees of separation combined with a flavor of online word of mouth  to
spread the news (which is a.k.a. "word of mouse")

Hence, AJAX is not Web2.0; neither it is a subcomponent of Web2.0. AJAX is
merely a tool to make a web2.0 experience with less friction.

People tend to use these terms interchangably, but it is always a good idea
to "agree on the definitions" to eliminate further confusion.
