The ability to adjust the brightness/contrast using the QuickTime
7Player is in the standard version... you don't need to buy the Pro
version. You just need to go to Window > Show A/V Controls (CMD+K).

However, you do need to be running OS X 10.4 and a recent Mac... one
which has a graphics card that supports Core Image.
