[thelist] SSL Certs for two domains

I'm asking this question on behalf of another person:

She has two domain addresses that point to the same website. One is a typical government domain (i.e. www.co.countyname.il.us) and the other is a .org name. She is preparing to obtain an SSL cert for one or both domains, but was told that because SSL's are based on IP addresses that she wouldn't be able to apply it to both domains. She was planning on obtaining 2 SSL certificates (one for each domain), but evidently that's not possible.

I'm not very conversant on SSLs and how they work for multiple domains. I attempted to google it but wasn't returning anything useful as far as I could tell.

Any tips or evne just a link to somewhere explaining this better would be appreciated.
