Seems like you know your audience pretty well.  So stick to email and be
done with it.

Maybe in a family reunion show them how to use RSS, then you can migrate to
it.

(I did a little website for my baby and I know the only way family will be
visiting the website is if I tell them about via email cuz most of them are
non-tech). My mom cant even use the keyboard properly (but she is learning).

So as long as you know your intended audience just stick to what they know.
