[thelist] Text editor recommendations

We have JEdit installed at work and the boss likes it, but I don't like it.

I am brand new at using it, and have very little time and patience, but I
notice that I can't seem to close it out, and it's not very intuitive of an
interface. This is not a "fair" assessment, just a hurried and crabby one.
