You originally said that it was released under the GPL/LGPL. Assuming  
that is a "You pick" option, then use it under the terms of the LGPL,  
which doesn't require releasing the entire source code (just that of  
the library which is covered by the LGPL, which you didn't write  
anyway).

Alternatively, contact the author of the GPL software and negotiate a  
different license. You'll probably have to pay for it, but it still  
saves you from rewriting the library from scratch.
