Hi Ken
I haven't checked the windows firewall.
My isp is fine i was hosting from my computer before but using apache. Felt
like discovering what my vista ultimate could really do though without extra
add ons.
Hmmm i will go remove the host headers, and then i will configure the
firewall then. Hadn't thought about that. Thanks very much
kip

There is nothing particularly special that you need to do here.

You do *not* need to add the Host header (by default IIS7 will accept all
requests)
Do not add the external IP address - IIS should be listening on its own,
internal IP address.

Things you should check are:
a) Does the Windows Firewall have an exception for Port 80 (to allow traffic
from your router to reach IIS)?
b) Does your ISP block port 80 (or any other ports)? Some ISPs do not allow
you to run servers, so they block common server ports (e.g. 25, 80, 443 etc)

Cheers
Ken

Hi there,
Ok i think i have done what you suggested. I edited the bindings and set the
ip to my computers internal ip address set by the router, and the host to
kwebd.co.uk
When i click on it it goes to the right ip address, but it still doesn't
seem to be communicating with the IIS program. Maybe it is still to do with
the router? I will check it out. Is there a special name to give the
protocol in the port forwarding or just any old name will do?
I have still to check the logs in the iis. Need to try and find them first.
Thankyou so much for your help so far
kipper

I've not used IIS7 myself.. though I have someexperience of IIS6 - I
can't imagine it has changed much.

>From what I can remember in the properties of "Default Web Site" (if
that is the one you're using) you will need to modify the settings on
the "Website" tab and add your host header and external IP. That
might be all you need to do.

It is also worth checking your IIS logs to see if there is any
activity from your requests made via http://www.kwebd.co.uk

Can't help with any book suggestions I'm afraid; all you need to know
about IIS Admin can be found on the web :) Check out
