Thx Shawn, Will. 

OpenSource first - I downloaded and installed Kino, Blender and 
Openmovieeditor for Linux - now just need to find some time to 
toy/test.  I will hold off on Sony Vegas.  Can Flash 8 be used for video 
editing as well or is that not its core purpose/functionality?
