my wife, a virtual office administrator who works with lots of online
marketing stuff, finally went to tracking actual start and finish times and
billing for every minute worked. for her, it wasn't a big deal to track it
all.

I hope your ultimate goal is to tie your pay to your skills and not the
clock; skill can be nearly infinite, but the clock has limitations . . .
