[thelist] hostgator

I have a client who has had terrible experience with HG. Just after moving
to HG, one of their servers lost a drive and there were no backups, no
redundant drives, etc. Basically hundreds of websites were gone.
Fortunately he was on a different system but we need their help for
something else and because of the lost drive, we couldn't get tech support.
I don't know how many techs they even had; it appeared to be one.
Sometimes my client would call them and ask tech questions and they would
tell him to stop calling them or they would delete his site off the server.
Granted my client is one of those "needy" clients, but their actions and
rudeness was the worst I have ever dealt with.

He is currently still with HG simply because he doesn't want to spend the
money to move the site (its a very large shopping cart). With HG, they are
a great host-- until they aren't.

That was a few years ago. Maybe they are under new management. I will
never use them.

my 2c.
