I read JavaScript Allongé [1] early on this year and found it to be an
absolute joy. The writing is really something — it makes you take another
look at familiar patterns and grasp the functional logic beneath and in
between the lines.

It goes right back down to the nuts and bolts (What's a function? What's a
variable?) and quickly and clearly builds beautifully expressive patterns
in plain sight. Lovely stuff.
