Sure, they were monitoring suspected drug flights. They had interdicted
about a dozen that were carrying drugs before the tragedy occurred with the
missionaries... I'm not saying they were right or wrong for being there in
the first place, merely that it was NOT the Americans fault for the plane
being shot down. Treatment of drug users is the only way to win the drug
war, stop demand and you don't have to worry about the supply...
