i'm also a big fan.

i first read lotr when i was 7 (i was a voracious reader at the time - not
so anymore), and have re-read it many times since. as with nicole, i know
alot of it very well.

they're incredible books.

as we grew up, my best friend and i would discuss making the lotr films. no
one had ever attempted it properly because it would be such a huge
undertaking. when i saw the first trailer on screen (before memento - an
amazing film, btw), i was pretty overwhelmed. it's a funny feeling knowing
that one of the things you've been waiting for (for 16 years) is about to
arrive...

i don't read www.theonering.net as much as i used to, but it's a great site.
i used to check the green books q&a way too often. it's strange how much
interest an invented world can stir up.

regarding the upcoming movies themselves - i feel as though they're in good
hands. there are endless arguments as to the colour of legolas' hair, or the
part of arwen in the movie (aka xena/arwen ;p), etc, but from the look of
the sets and the trailers, i think they're on track. things could've been
done FAR worse. i read a review of A Knight's Tale which said it included
modern music - how could anyone see that and not laugh?

i'm waiting patiently. when the films were announced, xmas 2001 seemed so
far away...
