Me too, although 'hardcore Mac user' sounds a bit scary. Still, 7-odd 
years w/ Mac, and counting.

The logic of this fails me. Why not have a look at the network & 
modem settings on the OS X install, write it down, then apply it to 
the relevant OS 9 control panels?
