What are they running? NT? 2k? That's simply not the case for the consumer
OSs (9x/ME)

Haven't done that in about 2 years - actually, don't think I've had to do
it once for my
Beige G3. My old laptop needed it about twice, and not since OS8.

Suggests that something is really screwed with your machines.
