yeah, I got an email from my mom this morning saying there is snow on
the mountains =)

I'll be there next week for Thanksgiving (My folks live in Phelan, about
10 miles south west of Victorville

Not a link, but the first summer I lived up there (summer of 88) I slept
in the bed of our pickup (we were having a house built, and I chose the
pickup instead of cramming in the RV with the rest of the fam). It was
(dunno if it is still) far enough away from city lights to watch
satellites drift across the sky without binoculars. That and meteors
just about every night. It was incredible. Once your eyes get adjusted,
the Milky Way comes alive; the mountains that separate the majority of
SoCal from the desert (San Gabriels) are silhouetted against the glow of
Progress; the sky is *filled* with stars. Amazing, and I can't wait to
see it again.

Here in Dallas, it's been overcast and crappy for the past couple
Leonids, hopefully this year it'll be clear enough...
