Gandhi (note correct spelling) was asked what he thought of "Western
civilisation", not specifically British. :)

BTW, some people think that the Gandhi family that ruled India for many
years is actually related to Mahatma Gandhi. That's not true. There's no
relation whatsoever. Indira Gandhi intentionally changed the spelling of
her last name (*that* was Ghandi) to fool the common man into thinking that
she was part of a "great" family.

To be honest, Jawaharlal Nehru and his socialist policy is responsible for
the poverty and widespread corruption in the country as well as the
conflict with Pakistan. In the 1960s, there was a surplus in the budget,
income tax rates were low, the population was under control, and the
economy was doing well. Now look what's happened. But that's a story for
another day :)

Madhu

("Madhu" means "honey" in one of my languages)
