TODAY'S eTIP(TM): Geminids Peak

Ideal viewing conditions for the Geminids are provided by the new
moon. In dark locations, you may see up to one meteor per minute
at its peak during the early hours of Dec. 14, though you can see
significant numbers as early as 10 p.m. local time on the evening
of the 13th. City dwellers might see 15 or 20 per hour. The
Geminids are slow, graceful meteors with a yellow cast that
radiate from just north of the bright star Castor. The Geminids
may be the only meteor shower associated with the orbit of an
asteroid rather than a comet, although the asteroid is most
likely a dead comet. Read more about the Geminids
[ http://comets.amsmeteors.org/meteors/showers/geminids.html ],
and get ready to enjoy one of nature's free light shows.
