Make sure your model of iMac actually has a microphone input. Some of the models moved to USB audio after some time. Next you need recording software. iTunes doesn't record sound in. It converts wav or aiff files to MP3 or it burns them to CD. Try something like this: http://mac.tucows.com/preview/206392.html Then once you've recorded the audio to your harddrive you can now import the wav or aiff files into iTunes. Make a playlist and burn to a CD like normal in iTunes.
