Can any of you Linux bods out there give me some indication as to why the
grep command won't work in the KDE console of Mandrake 8.1? It is my
understanding that this is used to search for files, but it just makes the
console hang and I have to close it and open a new one.
Also, I think the installation has created a weird partition on the
computer, I seem to have hda0 and hda6, is this right? When I installed it I
used the easy mode, but I want to start from scratch again and partition the
disk myself but I can't work out how to re-format the drive. On Windows I
would just insert the boot disk and format from that, do I need to create a
Linux boot disk to do the same thing? I have tried to search for these
answers on various sites like Mandrake, linux.org and linuxnewbies without
any success so all pointers would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
