Just a guess but maybe they had kids first then went into teaching, whereas
now they start teaching first and have kids later?

Heh.  That was my first inclination as well, that I just grew up.  But I
went back into my old yearbooks and most of the teachers were older than
now (not as much as I'd originally thought).

Maybe, I dunno.  Maybe I just never had the young teachers when I was in
school. :)  Or maybe I just don't know any of the older teachers now. :)

(Actually, now that I think about it, it's probably both.)
