Memo from Martin P Burns of PricewaterhouseCoopers

-------------------- Start of message text --------------------

We've carried out a CEO survey, involving over a thousand CEOs from 33
countries in Europe, Asia & the Americas, and the results surprised me:

Corporate social responsibility ("social reputation") is an important
agenda item for today¹s CEOs worldwide, with North American CEOs the most
confident of their companies' social reputations. In addition, nearly 70
percent of CEOs say that corporate social responsibility is vital to the
profitability of any company.

They say say that responsible behaviour toward employees, shareholders, and
communities is not a luxury for good economic times, but a core concern
even in today's economy.
