Ok ... Ummm ... paying waaaaay too much for silly old children's books? [Just bought one from 1823! My 'new' oldest book! <g>] ... Owning four guitars - when I can only suck playing one of them at a time? [I need to buy a few more - maybe I'll find one that works!]

;-)

Seriously though - sometimes there are things we don't give a second thought to that other cultures find outrageously funny.

Case in point: The Cleveland zoo has a 'sister zoo' somewhere in China. A few of the Chinese folks came over for a visit. As part of the 'grand tour' we took them to a Purina factory ... where they make dog chow, cat chow, monkey chow, etc. Anyway, the place was neat as a pin, you could eat off the floors, the 'food' is untouched by human hands ..... and the Chinese guys thought it was absolutely the most hilarious thing they had seen in their entire lives!

(My guess is that 'sanitation for animal food' is not real high on their list of important things in life.)

That was a surprise to us as hosts and as 'zoo people'. A cultural difference that caught us completely offguard.

That's more the kind of thing I was asking about.

RonL.
