[thechat] Zope on a Rope (or shoestring)

Well, the 2 week contract that I got last week has been extended already,
with rumours of more (permanent) work in the future.

Would you believe, after only 48 hours of being redundant, I've been
contracted to build a Bobby[1] compliant, HTML 4.01-strict[2] site for the
bloody british government? Fate, it would appear, is not without a sense of
justice[3]. After nearly 3 years of spending 5-6 hours per day commuting on
british trains[4], I'm now working on a site that will handle all online
complaints made about the rail system. Heh, the system has to be capable of
archiving all data they publish in the next 50 years. (Stop laughing,
please. :-)

Oh yeah, it's in Zope. Wiki(d).

It has been mooted that I could possibly be employed full time to do
speculative community development for Zope products, obviously with
emphasis on the company's commercial interests. I have already been asked
to consider how to build a better Wiki, and am looking at starting a
community project to build professional collaboration tools for use with Zope.

I might have a fractured skull[5], but I'm sure I'm not hallucinating all this.

Seb.
