So, a reverse of the normal interpretation, then. "British football
hooligans" and "[name of sportsperson] won [sporting title] for
England". In most English eyes, Britain=England, England=SE of England
and SE of England=London.

Here, have some nuclear weapons to store 20 miles from your capital, and
some more to store 50 miles from your largest city. Not keen?

Well it was until you kicked the shite out of it in the 12th Century[1],
and it extended right out into (today's) Cheshire, Shropshire and
Herefordshire. Yon German Charlie Windsor a prince of Wales? Do me a
favour - the last Prince of Wales was executed in Shrewsbury in about
1290.
