Hi Rudy,
In fact, I want to change the text of "Start" button. Adding and
removing program shortcuts in Start Menu is not a problem for me.
Anyhow, you have given me new idea to use Start Menu in more efficient
way.
Thank you,
Syed Zeeshan Haider.

hi syed

do you mean adding icons or entries to the programs that you can launch
from
the Start button? or do you mean actually changing the word Start on the
button to some other word?

usually, when people say "customize the start bar" they mean putting
shortcuts there

just use Windows Explorer to find the folder called Start Menu (yes, a
space
in the folder name) and then you can drag or create shortcuts there

i've done this with about 10 of the programs i use most often -- *way*
more
convenient than having them on the desktop

all i need to do is hit the Window key (outside the Alts, on both sides
of
the space bar), then the one letter which i have memorized for my
programs,
e.g.

   I (internet explorer)
   F (ws-ftp)
   X (excel)
   M (mail)
   N (netscape 4)
   V (dreamweaver)
   Y (pfe, my text editor)

so i can launch any of these with just two keys

you have to change the name of the shortcut to start with the letter you
want (so i just made 'em 1 letter long, eh)

don't use P, D, S, C, H, R, U or you'll have to tab

if you want to change the word Start to some other word, i dunno how to
do
that, you'll probably need to edit the
