Problem:
Every few minutes or so, the process services.exe starts going up to 100%
CPU usage.  This completely seizes control of the machine, preventing me
from doing anything: typing, refreshing the screen, scrolling, etc. until
it's through.  This happens intermittently (maybe two or three times an
hour) and lasts for about three or four minutes.

Steps I've Taken to Try and Fix the Problem:
- Suspended McAfee (then turned it back on)
- Uninstalled ZoneAlarm
- Uninstalled SETI at Home
- Temporarily Suspended the Automatic Backup Software
- Scanned for virii
- Reinstalled W2K SP2
- Cleared out W2K Event Logs
- Went so far as to use Kill.exe to nuke the services.exe process (W2K then
proceeds to barf and restart the computer - this was a last ditch effort).
- Stopped (or set to Manual) about a dozen services (including Telephony,
Event Logging and a bunch of others that I wasn't using).
- Tried some stuff found in Usenet threads:
   <http://groups.google.com/groups?sourceid=navclient&q=services%2Eexe+100%25+cpu>
   but that didn't help.

I'm running Win2K Pro SP2.  IIS and CF were installed recently but AFTER
this problem started.  It *did* start happening about the time we switched
to a domain controller here in the office (but I didn't set it up and I'm
not in a position to debug that).  The connection does act normally, so
that doesn't *seem* like that's it.

So, basically, I'm about at my wits end on this one.  My next step is to
play Russian Roulette with the services and just keep shutting them off
until 1) the problem is solved, 2) my internet connection dies, or 3) the
computer barfs and needs to restart.  I'd like to avoid this, so does
anybody have any other suggestions?  Pleeeease?
