That's interesting.

As an elementary schooler, my main problem with the Pledge was that
it appeared to be endorsing worship of a false idol.  Troubled, I
brought it up with my 3rd or 4th grade Sunday School teacher.  I
don't recall her coming up with a very convincing rebuttal... at some
point I stopped saying it and just faked.

Today, I simply think the pledge is silly and a bit creepy.  I have
never liked reciting anything in unison because "the leader said so."

Not in church, not in school.
And don't like the idea of my daughter doing it.

Too "Triumph des Willens..."

Give me a mind of my own, straight up, no chaser.
