This is an oversimplification. There is a difference between "God" and "god". There are a plethora of other examples in public gov't of Christian God references. Hell, Zeus was a god...I doubt anyone would think to replace "under God" with "under Zeus". So yeah, "God" is not exclusive to Christianity, but it's not a stretch to assume that the Christian God is what Congress intended when it tacked it onto the pledge. Especially since the Knights of Columbus were the ones who suggested the measure. http://exit3.i-55.com/~minkusmj/Pledge.html -----Original Message----- From: Chris Evans [SMTP:chris at fuseware.com] Sent: Friday, June 28, 2002 2:46 PM To: thechat at lists.evolt.org Subject: Re: [thechat] More Pledge news Just a clarification - God is not exclusive to Christianity. It is my understanding that the Jewish religion, and possibly others, also believe in God. What separates Christians is the belief in Jesus as the Messiah. -- Chris Evans chris at fuseware.com http://www.fuseware.com ___________________________________ thechat mailing list - Ruttling and Strife and IPA. thechat at lists.evolt.org http://lists.evolt.org/mailman/listinfo/thechat http://lists.evolt.org/thechatarchive/ ____ Woohoo!
