sorry, jon, that's not the right answer, at least not according to the site
where i found it, where it was presented a "reader challenge" to figure out
using sql (the winning solution is rather quite inventive, including a large
union of several cross joins to generate all potential possibilities of
people, houses, pets, etc.)

i hesitate to post the answer in case somebody like isaac or damclean
actually wants to give it a shot
