is anyone here old enough to remember August 6 and 9, 1945?

imo that's a date that changed the world... beautifully written in Neil Peart's
(rush) words

i remeber the death of Lennon, i was living in NY state at the time, but wasn't
a fan yet (6 y/o). i currently cosider that day a huge loss for humanity.

i do remember the explosion of the challenger, i was shocked, i felt very sad
that there was a civilian up there too. the narration of one of you watching the
launch from a rooftop, reminds me of another beutiful rush lyric "Excitement so
thick --- you could cut it with a knife"

i also remeber march 3, 1985 - the hugest earthquake i've lived, my father had
just got home, i was pouring his daily beer (i wasn't old enough to drink it,
but i loved pouring it for him) and i splashed it all over the table, some
things fell off the shelves in our house.

i also remember a huge flood in the 80's. my school was located across the river
from the rest of the city, and the river took away the bridge we used daily to
go to classes.

September 11th is a huge landmark to our country, in 1973 our own airforce
bombed the government house putting end to the world's first democratically
elected socialist government, and starting a cruel dictatorship ot 25 years,
which originally was supposed to be a transitory situation. The president shot
himelf in the gov house before they could capture him.

In september 11 2001, we were 1 hour ahead of NY, so at 10.00 i was in a meeting
at a client's office, but my colleague had her cell phone on, and her husband
kept calling her for news updates, we tried to keep on working normally, at that
time our local news were saying that it had been a minor plane. the moment i
stepped out of the meeting room, there were TVs in the waiting room next to
where we were, i saw the second tower collapse live, our company was very busy
so we kept on working that day, at night the news repeated the images in a loop.
it was only the next day i was able to assume it had been real. i had visited
the tower's top as a child. we commented how the US stole the landmark date of
September 11th from us.

i also remeber october 5th 1988, chile's people vote NO to continuing the
military government, it was like a carnival.
