Yep - the *only* thing I like about my work phone is that it's Tri-band (2
bands in Europe which it auto-switches between as ISTR they're both GSM)
so works Over There. Although of course, if you don't have GSM, then you
can't do SMS.

Would make more sense than some of the other names it and its divisions
have had. Lucent remember was the old Bell Technology Labs, and has cursed
offshoots with names like Avaya (call centre and networking kit - they
did most of the cabling and data systems for the World Cup) and
Agere (opto-electronics research).
