Oooops.

Sorry - hit ctrl-enter or something and sent the email
too soon.

Anyway - the point is that the first thing you do when you buy a
new camera or a new lens is to buy a filter to protect the lens.

 From that point on, pretty much every picture you take is gonna
be through that filter.  So why not get a "good" one?  Particularly
when the price difference at the small sizes that go on a camera
like a coolpix are small enough to make even the "best" filters
still reasonably affordable?

(Who is also curious to see how the 'color' filters used for serious
black and white photography would 'mess' with the electronic mind of
a digital camera.)

Or you could buy the four-pack of CoolPix filters from Nikon, one
polariser, UV filter and two grey filters...??
