Internet rates are on hourly basis in Pakistan. Initially (in the early days of
WWW), they were very high; about Rs. 40 to Rs. 50 per hour. Now they have
decreased incredibly. Now their range is from Rs. 5 to Rs. 15 per hour. There
are some companies which are expensive but they also become moderate when
someone buys packages with more than 10 hours of internet access. Now internet
cards are becoming popular. They are like calling cards.
In many universities and colleges, internet access is free of cost. Paknet is
the largest ISP of Pakistan and it is owned by government. This ISP provides
internet access to most government institutions, educational institutions
(access is free) and home users.
