Ioan Gruffudd could do it well.
Jack Davenport would also be OK.
Russell Crowe's already too famous, same for Colin Firth, Ewan McGregor
(before SW would have been OK) & Hugh Grant.
Guy Pearce is just famous enough and with the Time Machine showed he can
do the accent. Also has the physique (he's a former swimming champion
ISTR)
Dougray Scott would be too 'The new Connery'
Clive Robertson is too like Brosnan

Missing from there is probably Matthew Macfadyen, but he's more the Bond
after next, lest he be typecast after Spooks:
