(Decoded: a round mutton pie and chips)

Pie has to be warm and not excessively crunchy (e.g. it's sat under the heat
lamps of the chippy for too long), Irn Bru has to be from glass bottle
(means bottled in Central Scotland, not in England like some of the plastic
bottles are) and straight from being in the fridge for a week.

An alternative to this is a pie and bovril, usually consumed within the
grounds of a football or rugby park. Broadwood Stadium just down the road
from me does a no bad pie, the pies down at Hawick RFC are pretty good too,
but I can't comment on any other stadia (never was a big fitba nut).

Other great chippie delicacies include smoked sausage supper, special fish
supper, and my local chippie does a good jumbo haggis supper. Their
'proper' pizzas suck tho. I still drive up past my folks to my 'old' local,
which does a stunning fried mushroom pizza (the pizza is fried, not the
mushrooms, just to put the fear of Atkins into those of you into healthy
eating)

:)

I still refuse to try this, and I'm usually open minded about such things.

One of my local takeaways (Cumbernauld is flooded with them for some
reason[1], most of them being located in industrial estates, and
specialising in deliveries) does a mean chicken breast pakora, but their
Mixed Calzone is to die for - fried pizza base, folded with slices doner
meat, chunks of spicy chicken breast, spicy onions and melted cheese inside,
with melted cheese on top of the folded product - if you can finish one,
you're doing well - it's about 3/4 of a foot wide and is tasty as hell.
It's also probably really bad for you, but c'est la vie.

MMMMMMMMMM :)

[1] I can count around a dozen takeaways within just a couple of miles of
me, not including the staples: 2 Burger Kings, McDonalds, Dominos, with a
Pizza Hut and KFC en route within the next six months. Incidentally, all of
these bar one of the Burger Kings will be within a 200 yd radius. To
accomodate this, Asda lost part of their car park, and the town lost an
Alexander's Ford dealership and will lose a car wash. Still, it will mean I
can get a medium deep pan Chicken Feast without having to drive all the way
to Parkhead or Airdrie! :)
