fwiw, I gather the SF issue isn't with the thing itself, as the fact that
sidewalks are overcrowded already --- i've had to step into the street to
get around a market crowd in Chinatown --- and there's just no room for a
machine that can get up to, what, 12mph?  Too big and too fast, and no-one
but maybe the founder is experienced enough with them yet to be able to
handle them in a city crowd.
