Ah, but having had a fairly dark film, having it end on a romantic moment
(yes, I *am* talking about Frodo and Sam) sent the audience out happy. Or
confused.

They also moved stuff forward - all that stuff about Eowyn feeling trapped
in a gilded cage is from ROTK.
