I've never had any trouble finding French wines, but maybe there's plenty in
stock because buyers are boycotting.  My opinion of the French and French wine
hasn't really changed much.  Though I generally go more for the Italian over
the French.

Australia has a lot of great wines, as does Chile and Argentina.  The art and
science really have advanced to the point where any place with good soil and
weather can have wine to be proud of.
