Hey Madhu.

I am a graduate of the oldest bartending school in Las Vegas and I
got straight A's and I worked in the trade for about 5 years all back
when you and Isaac were in short pants. What am I, chopped liver?

This is the American-style basics, in order, IMO, of need:

hi-ball glasses
rocks glasses
double rocks
chimneys
shot glasses
coffee cups

as far as I'm concerned you could make due with those.
In Germany they served beer in bottles with a hi-ball glass.
Wine can go in a rocks glass (though I'd get a few wine glasses)
and so can martinis and the like.

Use a double rocks for blended drinks.

Since you're running a classy joint, you should probably add:

beer glasses and/or pints (many)
wine glasses (whatever)
a few brandy snifters (2-5)

you might forgo the chimney and sub a pint or double rocks...

but chimneys and hi-balls were my most used glasses (most of my
customers drank their beer out of the bottle).

Garnishes (basic American):
maraschino cherries, limes (wedges), lemons (slices and twists), green olives
- a jar of cocktail onions in the fridge.
