Yes. And, with the same kind of language tactics, you could say that 
conservatives want to keep needy people in poverty.

If you want people to truly pay attention to what you're saying, 
sometimes you have to use less inflammatory language. Even after toning 
that one down, you left it an implied "stupid liberals" edge to it.

How about:

"Liberals believe that it is the responsibility of a society (and 
government on its behalf) to ensure that no person within that society 
is left behind. Conservatives believe that it is the responsibility of 
individuals to care for themselves."

Don't be snotty; just because people disagree with you doesn't mean 
they think you're evil, and it's offensive to say so.

I think you're a troll, and I generally find your political and 
economic views disheartening, but I like you and I (still) think you're 
a good person. To imply that I think you're evil is childish.
