i have mentioned this one before...

Wings of Honneamise (http://imdb.com/title/tt0093207/)...

big budget that at the time nearly bankrupted the studio (Gainax)... 
hand-drawn, lots of frames, nice art... soundtrack by Ryuichi 
Sakamoto (won an Academy Award for soundtrack to The Last Emporer)...

i really enjoyed the hard-SF stuff... which wasn't too much, so i 
also dug anything with robots that blow stuff up... i could get into 
Patlabor pretty easily, Iczer 1 reasonably well... i liked the 
Project A-Ko movies because of all the anime puns...

anyway... i don't watch much of the new stuff... not enough boom... 
too much digital... which makes me old is all...
