[thechat] invisible div over Flash; works in FF, not IE

not my site; just helping fix one b0rkenness:

lower right has an iframe with a Meetup Flash widget. I have a
transparent div over the face of it to force it to open the link in a
new window instead of in the iframe. 

works in FireFox, but in IE7 it still opens the link in the iframe.

thoughts?
