I think that's the thing I find irksome.  That people get credit for
ass-in-the-seat hours rather than ability to work efficiently.

I found at one job, I got no props for coming in EARLY (when it was nice
and quiet), because my boss would come in around 10AM... but if I stayed
late, or worked weekends, I was a goddam hero. So if I were savvy to the
game (as opposed to focused on the actual work and my productivity) I'd
come in just before my boss, and stay at least as late as him, or five
minutes later.

But, I'd rather be productive when I'm at work, and take breaks from the
desk when I know I'm not being productive.  So I don't like that game.

good cop/bad cop is awesome, though... :D
