[thechat] need asset tracking software recommendation

I've been looking around for a good IT asset tracking package, but
there's soooo many options out there that I'm a bit overwhelmed. Does
anyone have any recommendations? I'm just wanting something that can
scan the 1200 or so ip devices on the network and track all their info
(device type, make, model, and in the case of PCs what software is
installed).
