Mohan,

There is a very good reason for online/backup - off site disaster storage. 

I have about 5Tb of NAS on my home/office network - not all of which is full
and I'm gradually uploading, work, media, images etc  to S3. Once the bulk
of the upload is there, a daily sync is relatively trivial. My Synology
Diskstation will take care of that.

I'm considering just sending S3 a disk drive with the bulk of my data so
they can copy it into my buckets - they offer this service.

Why online backup?

Unless you are going to need file sync with all the devices you are using, I
would advise investing in a USB external storage drive.

They are less than $100 these days for a reasonable capacity of 1 TB.

With online backup, your bandwidth is going to get occupied with all the
file syncing happening. If your ISP charges you by bandwidth used, your
bandwidth will quickly get all used up. So suggest external storage drive
(portable or non portable). Portable drives are more expensive than
non-portables.
