[Theforum] survey purpose, and connecting haves with havenots

So, we're on a fact-finding mission. Good point. We oughta figger out where
we are before we try to go somewhere else.

Repeating myself, but in this context, I strongly feel that this first
survey should be as simple as possible for those taking it, and for those
analyzing it. Too many essay questions might be off-putting from either
perspective. Why not a simple, direct (and, yes, perhaps too leading) survey
for the first pass, which we could augment and clarify with further more
in-depth surveys?
