recap?

be glad to

formal structure:
there exist "pro tem" (latin = "for the time being") board of directors and
executives, but other than having elected these in a quasi-official manner,
we have done nothing formal in this regard and are awaiting results from
application for not-for-profit status in wisconsin

sites:
w.e.o = www.evolt.org
a.e.o = admin.evolt.org
b.e.o = browsers.evolt.org
l.e.o = lists.evolt.org
t.e.o = test.evolt.org
d.e.o = dir.evolt.org
f.e.o = food.evolt.org

discussion lists:
admin -- administration (articles, email, etc.)
theforum -- direction / future / long-term planning
thesite -- construction
thechat -- offtopic stuff
totc -- the oldtimers' chat (private)

there's one other list, theprocess, which was supposed to be for the
documentation and development of the "processes" by which things are done,
but that list sorta died, and its purported function seems to have been
superceded by theforum

as for actually getting stuff done, it is either by priv level:
4=god
3=admin
or by virtue of knowing signon passwords to get onto the servers

you need priv=3 to edit articles through w.e.o and to login to a.e.o (to
answer mail)

to be more specific, and perhaps i should stress that this is my
(database-oriented) viewpoint only...

    priv>=3 means you are an admin, and vice versa

and being subscribed to the admin list is merely a convenience, now that
the admin archives are public

that's our structure in a nutshell
