Sorry, I obviously didn't make myself clear enough. (or type slow enough...
die typos) What I meant is that someone seeing beo has absolutely no reason
to join evolt and get involved - they have what they want. But if someone
sees meo and wants an account they first of all have to join evolt, and
start contributing - once they've joined the community in this manner
they're much more likely to feel a part of it. Beo will always attract more
new people to evolt than meo - but will it be able to return the costs of
running the service? Once again, don't get me wrong. I love beo. i just
think that our priority should be on something which is much more likely to
contribute towards the costs of running evolt.org.

I disagree. While someone won't come to evolt because of meo, they might
join, (ie sign up, contribute things, etc) because of it.

Sans the ads, add a db, php, asp, cf, cgi, movable type... But, yes the
point is valid. I'd rather meo died than became a geocities, but I'd much
rather it lived. It could become a great PR item too. Look what we've
offered these people who gave their time and expertise to evolt - when Madhu
first came to evolt he didn't even know what a 'php' was, and now he 0WN5
j00. Or something along those lines. ;) But we could really promote how
evolt rewards people who really help it out. The opportunity to learn to
develop in so many languages is a definite asset to someone's portfolio...

Sorry, couldn't resist. ;P
