those are meta terms and not what will bring the traffic. where we show up
high in results are for searches for specific things.

#1 - background color radio button
 #9 - content management system
 #4 - regular expression
 #1 - character entity chart
 #9 - accessible links javascript
 #1 - inline list netscape 4
 #6 - analog report magic
 #4 - how to write a proposal
 #1 - rollover javascript
 #6 - htaccess tutorial
 #5 - breadcrumbs

i can go on and on and on and on.

stop right there. the stats you're using are from a highly atypical month
for evolt.org. if you want to get a better picture of what part google
plays in sending us traffic, check out june.

http://evolt.org/stats/2003/06/

out of roughly 1.5 million referrals, only about 108,000 of them are from
outside of *.evolt.org. out of that 108,000, google represents nearly
86,000 of them (actually more like nearly 95,000 since google is responsible
for yahoo's search results which represented nearly 9,000 referrals), in the
aggregate. that's damn near 88% of all outside referrals coming from some
form of google search result.

but, like you said, there are lies, damn lies, and statistics.
